Battery / Case / Clip

The small part still needs an exact match.

Check the installed holder and documented part number. A familiar case or family name is not enough.

A clear way forward

  1. Identify the unit

Use the complete model and hardware revision.

  2. Inspect the marking

Check the holder safely, without forcing a sealed or damaged case.

  3. Confirm the part

Verify the documented cell or part number before replacement.

What do you need help with?

Check the battery holder first

Confirm cell type, quantity and polarity against the remote’s own manual. Do not substitute a thicker cell or combine cells merely because they fit. Keep coin cells away from children and pets, and secure the battery compartment after replacement.

Damaged, swollen or leaking batteries need careful handling. Do not keep using a damaged battery compartment.

Why the model suffix and revision matter

The historical manufacturer archive gives different battery arrangements for 81LM and 83LM on pages 168–171. Inspect the exact holder before using either specification. The 895MAX also has conflicting original-guide and general-table information.

When the documents and installed holder disagree, pause and identify the unit before buying a battery.

A case is not a circuit board

A documented housing or visor-clip part number does not mean the electronics are included, repairable or currently available. Historical 971LM and 973LM housing kits explicitly exclude the circuit board.

A few useful answers

Common questions

Can I use a thicker coin cell if it fits?

Do not substitute cells or combine them because they fit. Match the specified type, quantity and polarity for the actual holder.

Does a housing kit include electronics?

Not necessarily. A documented shell or visor clip may exclude the circuit board. Confirm what the exact part includes.

What if the guide and battery holder disagree?

Pause and identify the hardware revision. Do not choose one specification solely from a similar model or a general table.
